GENERAL FORECAST. Pressure lias risen over northern New Zealand, hut is now commencing to fall slowly. A depression of tho westerly type is advancing across tho south Tasman Sea. Winds variable at first over the North Island with southerlies prevailing; otherwise north to north-west and moderate. Seas smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate north to west winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and smooth to moderate seas. Scattered showers in western and far southern districts; otherwise fair to cloudy. Temperatures moderate. DISTRICT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist wired .to-day: Tho indications are lor northerly moderate to strong, and freshening winds, and later backing to west or south-west. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather and later some scattered showers. The barometer is unsteady, with a falling tendency, but will be rising after about sixteen hours. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE.
