(From Our Own Correspondent.) UMUTOI, July 3. The Umutoi Library Committee held a meeting in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening. Mr S'. Hart presided and there was a very fair attendance of members. The secretary (Mr J, Mackenzie) reported that during the year 220 books had been added to tho library. The balance-sheet, which was read and adopted, disclosed a credit of £1 163 lOd. This was considered very good as there had been an expenditure of £2O on the new library building during the year. Aftor a discussion on library affaire, tho election of officers proceeded, tho following being elected: —Chairman, Mr S. A. S. Hart; secretary, treasurer and buyer, Mr J. McKenzie; librarian, Mr M. C. Amadio; committee, Mesdames ,T. Mackenzie, S. Hemmings, M. C. Amadio, Messrs J. Boddy, J. Burton, R. Pettigrew, and S. Hemmings. It was decided to hold a dance at Utuwai to augment the library funds. The following dance committee was appointed:—Messrs J. Burton, S. Hemmings, K. Hemmings, G. Burton, H. Mackenzie, E. Signal and M. C. Amadio, Misses M. Signal, D. Hemmings, M. Foot, and Mrs M. C. Amadio. A meeting will be held in the school next Wednesday evening to discuss the arrangements for the dance. Workmen have been engaged during the past few weeks in reconditioning the mill at Umutoi North. It is expected that cutting will begin this week. Tho Apiti senior football team journeyed to Rangawahia on Wednesday to play the match which had to be postponed on Saturday last on account of the - Rangawhia ground being under snow. The junior match at Apiti had to be postponed also on account of the adverse weather conditions.
