PREVENTED FROM RIDING. Mrs W. Murrell, one of the most accomplished horsewomen in Victoria, the wife of W. Murrell, a cross-coun-try jockey, was prevented by the stewards from riding at the Bacchus Marsh races. Mrs Murrell was to ride Eridunda, in the Hunter’s Hurdle Race, and was ready to take her place in the field, when the stewards informed her that they were opposed to women riders competing. Eridunda opened favourite in the race, but her owners withdrew the mare, and bets were declared off.
