RUSSIAN TIMBER.
SHIPMENT TO SYDNEY
STORM OF PROTEST
SYDNEY, June 18.
\ storm of protest lias arisen in re-o-ard to the arrival of the huge shipment of timber from a Russian port. Portion of tlie timber, which is cedar, was sold before its arrival. . . Tlie Timber Merchants Association lias appealed to the Government to “arrest tlie dumping of Soviet slaveproduced timber” on the ground that timber from local nulls is unable to compete with it. The Federal authorities are now making inquiries.
The shipment arrived on Wednesday by the motor-ship King Lud, and consists of 888,000 super feet of cedar.
