A proposal to instal a five-shilling totalisator and reduce the admission fee to the course to ono shilling is to be considered by the Auckland Trotting Club committee. . . , , The proposal, which is sponsored by the president, Mr J. Rowe, is expected to receive strong support. Mr Rowe considers that' in the prevailing circumstances the wartime tax which caused admission charges to be increased by sixpence should be removed. RACING IN AUSTRALIA. ATTEMPTS TO DOPE HORSES. Received June 6, 10.5 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 6. At the Fitzroy races on May 29, a veterinary surgeon discovered that attempts had been made to administer a potion to a number of horses and ponies. The horses were ordered to be scratched.
