RETIRING TEACHERS.
(To tho Editor.) Sir, —Could you inform me whether or not the "compulsory retirement clauses apply to school teachers, and if not, why not? Young teachers are anxious to know, as compulsory retirements would make room for some of the unemployed. There are still in the service many who have completed 40 years, and still hold down good positions. If the superannuation fund will not bear the strain, then why not increase tho subscription one per cent? —I am, etc., YOUTH.
