(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, April 18. Mr J. Miller, of Otaki, is at present on a visit to Foxton. The friends of Mr J. G. Honore will regret to learn that he is at present confined to bod with a recurrence of a previous trouble. The friends of Mrs S. J. Harvey will be pleased to learn that she has now left hospital and is staying with her mothfcr in Palmerston North.

Last evening a largo deputation of local business men and citizens waited on tho Mayor (Mr M. E. Perreau) with a request that he consent to nomination for a further term in the Mayoral chair. Mr Perreau replied that if no one else were forthcoming ho would consent to re-election. As a result of recent comment on the Foxton port the Chamber of Commerce has gone into tho matter of shipping through tho local port and at a special meeting held last night, tabled figures in connection with business transacted during tho month of March. Tho inwards cargo was 886 tons; also 496 sheep. Wharfage and handling charges collected wore: —Inward £lO3 15s Id, outward £4 19s Id. A wind-up meeting of the "Earthquake Relief Committee was held on Thursday evening, presided over by Mr M. E. Perreau. It was decided to wind-up the committees affairs and a resolution was passed to the effect that the sum of £IOO bo remitted to the Mayor of Wairoa and tho balance (£l2B 6s) bo forwarded to the Mayor of Napier together with covering letters expressing Foxton's sympathy in connection with tho earthquake disaster.
