WOOL INDUSTRY.

Received April 20, 1.50 p.m. LONDON, April 19

Mr Deveraux, the Australian Wool Council representative, reports that British topmakers have slightly, reduced quotations, but . owing to the cost of replacement thev prefer to await developments rather than accept lower offers. Merino tops are going steadily; crossbred tops are less firm. Yarn prices are maintained.

The cheerful tone continues in France, where prices for tops and yarns continue firm. The German reports are less satisfactory, spinners having satisfied immediate requirements.
