DATE OF MEETING.

BOARD MEMBER’S PROTEST. “I should like to enter a strong protest against the board altering the dates of its meetings,” stated Mr A. E. Mansford in a letter to the Palmerston North Hospital Board, of which he is a member. Mr Mansford pointed ,put that he was prevented from attending tho meeting yesterday, when the estimates were considered, owing to having two meetings on that date. By reason of the fact of my being secretary of a number of companies it is essential for mo to fix dates of meetings some weeks in advance,” stated Mr Mansford. ‘‘The board having fixed on certain days for its meetings, I arrange my meetings to suit these particular days. Then, when the board alters the date of its meeting, 1 am prevented from attending, and incidentally Palmerston .North is not fully represented at what in this instance is an important meeting. I realise that it is not alwaj's convenient to have these on set dates where holidays ciash, but see no reason why the dates should bo departed from unless there is a very strong argument. In view of the fact that only special business was transacted yesterday, the letter did not come before the board.
