MARTON A. AND P. SHOW. MARTON, Feb. 19.

Tho entries received for the Marlon District A. and P. Association’s show to bo held on tho Marton Park on Wednesday, February 25, constitute a record, and indications are that the show will be remarkably well and the entries in the pig classes (73) are believed to establish one of the most successful yet held by the association. All sections have filled a record for the Dominion. The entries received in the different sections are as follow :—Horses and ponies, 44 (including nine thoroughbreds); cattle, 116; sheep, 270 (including 148 purebreds and natural conditioned; 30 pot 'ambs and 92 pens of fat sheep and lambs); sheep dogs, 21; pigs, 73; homo industries, 130; art needlework and sewing, 90; school section, 238. In tho pony and hunters’ jumping competitions the entries range from twolvo to twenty-two in tho Pryce jumping competition. Post entries will be received up till 9 o’clock on the morning of the show in the fruit and vegetables sections. SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

One of the most successful swimming carnivals held by tho Marton Swimming Club took place in the Municipal Baths on Tuesday evening before a large and appreciative audience. Four rinks from Hunterville visited Marton on Wednesday and an enjoyable afternoon’s bowling resulted in a win on the aggregate for Marton by 3 points. Total: Hunterville 84; Marton 87. A rink from Marton visited Feilding on. Wednesday and "in a match with Oroua for Harford Tikis, were defeated by 25 to 12. - CRICKET. In a match on Wednesday, Broadway defeated Old Boys by 68 runs. For Broadway, M. Lyon (39), Gee (34), Mcßeth (25), Duncan (27) and Smith (38, not out) were the best contributors to a total of 204 for nine wickets, declared. For 01d_ Boys, Barton 33, Campbell 55 and Lambert 18 were the best batsmen.
