BIBLE CLASS UNION.

GATHERING AT CHRISTCHURCH

The annual Dominion camp of the New Zealand Anglican Girls’ Bible Class Union, is being held in Christchurch this year. For the entertainment of the 225 delegates, a full programme was arranged, and on Thursday the Dominion conference was held. On Wednesday morning the senior girls, who are stationed at the Cathedral Grammar School, in charge of Mrs S. Parr, camp mother, were addressed by Rev. J. R. Hervey, of St. Stephen’s Church, Shirley ; and in the afternoon a visit was paid by all the campers to the Tepid Baths. Vespers were taken by Mrs H. E. K. Ery (seniors), and Miss Park (juniors). A New Year’s Eve fancy dress dance, divided into two parties, one at the Grammar School, and the other at the Boys’ High School Hostel, where the junior girls are stationed, concluded the day. At the annual Dominion conference of the union, Mrs Fry (Wellington) ths Dominion president, presided over an attendance of about 220 members. The proceedings commenced with the president’s address, after which the secretary’s, the treasurer’s, and the Diocesan secretary’s reports were read. These were adopted. Several recommendations for the leader’s conference, which is to be held at the Grammar School on Monday afternoon, were made. It was decided that the executive of the union, which for the past two years has been stationed in Wellington should be transferred to Auckland. Miss W. Averill, was appointed Dominion president. Miss Henderson, secretary, and Miss Doreen Bell, treasurer. The lone members’ secretary, Miss Eldridge (senior) of Redcliffs, -was re-elected. The campers spent Thursday afternoon at tennis, swimming and other sports. Vespers were taken in Hag ley Park by Mrs Fry, and in the evening all attended the Grammar School gymnasium, to hear an interesting lantern lecture by Mrs WestWatson, on the subject of “Palless tine.”
