TRADE AGREEMENT.

AUSTRALIA AND CANADA: NEGOTIATIONS COMPLETED. Received January 2, 8.5 a.m. OTTAWA, Jan. 1. The negotiations between Mr Parker Moloney, Australian Minister of Transport, and the Dominion Cabinet regarding the new trade agreement between Canada and Australia are now completed. Mr Moloney and party have left for Australia. Sir George Porley, on behalf of tho Canadian Government, stated to-day: “We had most cordial discussions with our Australian friends. Both sides are hopeful that satisfactory results will follow and that we will be ablo to arrange an agreement beneficial to both countries.” THE BUTTER PROBLEM. Until the trade agreement is really completed no Australian butter will bo sold in Canada at less than 32 cents per pound. As tho present wholesale price is about thirty cents, tho effect is, for tho present at least, that Australian butter will cease to be a factor on tho domestic market. The setting of a minimum prico has been suggested as a method to bo followed in settling the butter question in the treaty itself.
