THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST, A slight depression is crossing the southern portion of New Zealand, while a fairly intense anti-cyclone is advancing from Australia on to the western Tasman Sea. Moderate to strong northerly winds, backing to southerlies during the next 24 'hours. Seas moderate generally, but rising on the West Coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Fresh northerly winds, backing shortly to southerlies in the eastern Tasman Sea, with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather cloudy in districts with a westerly aspect, with showers developing ; elsewhere fair to fine, but some showers later with the southerly change. Temperatures becoming colder. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for variable and moderate breezes. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather for several days. The barometer has a rising tendency.
