BIBLE SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY,

The anniversary services of the Church of Christ Bible School c °“ nlc ; ° n Sunday afternoon, when Air G. Carter, superintendent, presided °' o£ ing. The children, under the baton of Mr Eric Martin, rendered very delightful singing, the item by the kindergarten children being thoroughly enjoyed. Air H. 1 Grin stead was the special speaker for tho afternoon, taking for his subject, “Prize Winners,” telling the children why it was that prizes could be won, and v, hj ‘ riief were not won by some children. The services were continued m the e% cm ing at seven o’clock. Mr A. E. >\ right wu chairman, and the children again rendered excellent singing. . A special request was made for a repetition garten item. A special item by the Hiawatha Club contributed to the success of the evening. Mr T. Bamford, evangelist, was the evening speaker, gning a special talk to the children on - The town Called Übique,” a story that originally came from the pen of Hugh Price Hughes. Tho Town of Übique was really the Town of- Everywhere. A very suitable lesson was drawn from tho story. the meetings of the day were of a. high standard, and the parents of the children were well represented, good attendances at both meetings boing recorded. On Wednesday the children were presented with a very fine tea, due to the efforts of the teachers ' and particularly Mrs Nicholson and Airs Cole. At 7.30 the Anniversary concert commenced, the chapel being filled with parents and friends. The concert opened with the singing of an anniversary hymn by tho school; recitations were given by Master Jack Alummery, Aliss Coral Burrell and Miss Lola Burns; humorous songs were rendered by Mr Cole and proved very attractive. Aliss Woodfielil, L.A.8., F.T.C.L., rendered two delightful pianoforte solos; a dialogue, •'Matrimonial Mistakes,” given by children of -the Band of Hope, gave pleasure; while a dialogue given by children of the Bible School, and entitled “Red Riding Hood’s Wood,” proved a great success, the children taking their parts in an efficient manner. Ten boys of the school • rendered- in inimitable fashion “Ten Little -Nigger Boys,” and the kindergarten • -children were asked to sing again. The concert closed. w ith a tableaux, “Beneath tho ■ Cross of 'Jesus,” rendered by membors.~iof - the ' Etjawatha Club. . 1 ” ’ .? .. .. Miss E.’ Gills' presented the' prizes to the kindergarten children, and Air E. Carter to the children ■of the larger school. In tho Bible class, Ainslee Scadden and Eric Alartin received first prizes; Dorothy Polglase, second; senior boys’ class, Henry Peters first, George Scaddcn, second; senior girls’ class, Aldred Brookes first, Violet Hunter second; intermediate boys’ class, Ronald Wright first; William Willson, second; junior class, Neil Scaddcn first, lan Nicholson second. A special prize was given by the superintendent to Audrey Pullyn for excellent work and attention during tho year. A special prize was {presented by Air T. Bamford to Aldrod Brookes for excellent work and deportment throughout the year. Air Eric Alartin was presented with a token of appreciation for services rendered in conducting tho singing. Opportunity was taken by the Ladies’ Guild to present Air A. E. Wright with a token of ajipreciation of services rendered to the church; tho presentation was mado by Mrs Cole, secretary of the guild. The final event of the evening was tho visit of Father Christmas. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree enabled him' to bring joy to the hearts, of the boys and girls of tho school and many others. It was voted by all that the services constituted a record for a geod number of years.
