RONGOTEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). RONGOTEA, Nov. 17. The usual weekly meeting of the Social Club wae held on Thursday evening and a fair attendance of euchre players from Rongotea and surrounding districts were in attendance. After some very interesting games had been played the following players were declared prize-winners: Mr J. R. McCall and Mrs M. Bower. Consolation prizes were won by Mr R. Clausen and Mrs W. J. Amies. After a dainty supper had been partaken of, the winners of the points prizes for the season were, announced, the following being the successful pluyers: Mr W. J. Amies and Mrs A. E. Bottcher. It is interesting to note that the winner of the men’s section was only two points ahead of the runnerup, Mr W. G. Baylis, while the winner of the ladies’ prize headed her opponent, Mrs G. F. Baylis, by only one point. At a suitable juncture during the evening Mr W. J. Amies, president of the club, in a short speech eulogised the work of the secretary, Miss M. Liggins, and on behalf of the club made her a handsome presentation. Miss Liggins suitably responded. A further presentation, was made to Mr W. J. Amies, who has always taken a keen interest in the welfaro of the club. At a meeting of the directors of the Rongotea Co-op. Dairy Coy.. Ltd., it was decided to pay to suppliers for the month of October on the basis of lOd per lb. of butterfat. The supply to the factory is now increasing rapidly and at present nearly four tons of butter are being made daily. This output is considerably ahead of that for the same period last season. Suppliers to the Makowhai Co-op. Dairy Coy., Ltd., are receiving Is per lb. of butterfat for the month of October. As is the case with all other dairy factories, the supply is increasing steadily and at present 19i crates of cheese are being made daily. For the same period last month only 18 crates of cheese were being manufactured. , x> Mr I W. J. Rzoska, of .the local Post Office staff, left Rongotea last week for the Souih Island on his annual holiday leave. During Mr Rzoska’s absence, Mr JGeary, of Palmerston North office, is carying out relieving duties.
