(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAICI, Nov. 7. A euchro party and dance at Hautere on Wednesday night was well attended. Prizes were won by Mrs Twist and Mr Davis (firsts) and Mrs Ashdown and Mr 11. J opson (seconds), while the points prizes were won by Mrs R. Bills and Mr J. Skinner. An orchestra played dance music, and supper was served: . Several members of tho Levin lire Brigade visited Otaki last evening and indulged in euchre, crib and five hundred games with tho local brigade. At the conclusion of tho ' match Superintendent Cockrell thanked the visitors for their attendance.'The games resulted in a win for Otaki by 21 to 18. Deputy-Superintendent Johnson returned . thanks and extended a cordial invitation., to the Otaki brigade to visit Levin and indulge in games of .a similar nature. An appetising supper was Mr Mills, of Rangiuru Road, is at present in hospital in Wellington for an opera; tion. Mr W. Nicholls is with the Maori Mission party at present in Auckland. KcV. A. R. Penn (son of Mr F- Penn, lato of Otaki), now residing at St. Clair, Dunedin, has accepted an invitation to take charge ot the Motueka circuit next April, subject to confirmation of the Methodist Conference. The funeral of the lato Mr Rchua Heperi, which took pluce yesterday afternoon was very largely attended by both Maori and' pakehas. Rev. Father Riordan conducted a service at the church, and also at the graveside. Appropriate hymns in Maori were sung by the choir. On leaving- the church for tho cemetery tho cor ; tege was preceded by boys from the -.Maori College under Mr P. Tahiwi. The pailbearers were Messrs C. and L. Enoka, G. Putawaka, W. Heperi, M. Royal and F. Wilson. A number of beautiful wreaths were deposited at the grave. Tho Hautere Rifio Club held tho final shoot tjiis week for Miss Westland’s and Mr F. Rusling’s trophies. Tho ladies’ prize was won by Mrs 11. Lumsdcn. The runnerup was Miss J. Rusling, one point behind. The men’s match resulted in fivo tying for first place. In the shoot-off Lumsdcn, the club’s youngest member, was the winner. Following arc the scores: —Mrs H. Lumsden 280, Miss J. Rusling- 279, Miss M. Wells 273, Miss S. Beverly 272. Gents: S. Lumsden 280, L. Lumsdcn 280, A. Butt 280, C. Morgan 280, A. Taylor 280.
