PUBLIC WRESTLING.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Our friend “Paterfamilias” again rushes into print on a subject it is plain he knows very little about. Firstly, the class of literature our friend reads is quite evident by liis knowledge of all the terrible happenings at wrestling matches. Why read them? If our friend will only come out into the open from'his seat in the Square watching the butterflies chasing one another from flower to flower I would be'pleased to introduce him to one of these terrible “maneaters,” and I am sure he would enjoy a cup of tea with him and find him quite entertaining. Eight thousand people were thrilled on Saturday in Australia at one of these “gruesome” contests, and the Opera House will be packed to the doors on Thursday night here, and if the refereo gets his nose too close he is likely to lose it, but wrestling will boom just the same. Marbles and long skirts are gone for good.—l am, etc., MODERN.
