SURPRISE PARTY. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, Sept. 20. An enjoyable surprise party was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. E. Mrs Jefferies received her guests wearing a pretty dress of beige georgette while Miss Ngaere Jefferies wore a dainty gown of pink georgette. A spacious room was cleared for dancing and prettily decorated with deep orange and blue, while the drawing room wns beautiful with bowls of golden jonquils. Among those present were Mrs A. Jefferies, Mrs M. A. McLeod, Mrs M. C. McLeod, Misses B. Jefferies, C. Carthew, T. Carthew, L. Davidson, S. Davidson, V. Viles, W. Wales, E. Wales, H. Hocken, M. McLeod, IC. McLeod. M. Reid was appointed to take charge of the expenditure of the money. A peculiar accident happened in East Street yesterday, when the Borough Council’s big mental lorry was proceeding up the road.
