GENERAL FORECAST.
Pressure is still rather high over Australia and the Tasman Sea and has risen somewhat over New Zealand, but is still low to the eastward. Winds variable with westerlies prevailing over Otago and Southland; elsewhere moderate west to south. Seas: Still a considerable swell between Cape Campbell and East Cape, but moderating; elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate south-west to north-west winds and smooth to moderate seas' in the eastern Tasman Sea. Mainly fair, but some scattered showers in Southern Otago and Southland and on the West Coast of the South Island. Temperatures cool to moderate. DISTRICT REPORT. COOL AND CHANGEABLE. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for moderate westerly winds after about 16 hours, and backing by west to south and freshening. There is a prospect Of fair weather after about 16 hours. Conditions will probably be cool and changeable, with some showers. The barometer will be falling slowly shortly, then rising slowly.
