Tho eighth annual meeting of tho Ron- ! gotea Tennis and Croquet Club was hold in tho Masonic Hall on Wednesday evening when Mr E. J. Arnott, in the absence of tho president, Mr A. Tho annual report, which was as follows, was received: “Six inter-club matches'were played during tho season against teams from tho Rangiotu, Glen Oroua and Hokowhitu Clubs, four matches being won, while two were lost. Two dances in order to raise funds for the club were held during tho year and, whereas tho first realised a profit of over £9, the second all but paid expenses. Tho wire netting which was in a deplorable ‘condition at the commencement of the season was remedied somewhat by the erection of new netting, the work entailed being carried out by members of the club. The ladder competition was again brought into use, and, although very few ladder games were played, it proved a considerable acquisition. Tho courts were well patronised throughout the year and it is hoped that again there will be a largo membership. In presenting the balance-sheet for the season I dosire to congratulate the members of the club upon raising the balance at the bank from £3 to £3l. which when this year’s subscriptions are added should cover the expenses of placing the courts in a satisfactory playing state. A severe loss to the club was. that of the captain, Mr IC 0.
