Don Bradman is the first Australian batsman to make four centuries in a season’s tests, but the feat has been performed twice for England—by H. Sutcliffe with 115, 176, 127 and 143 in 1924-5, and by W. R. Hammond with 251, 200, 119 not out and 117 in 1928-9.
Arthur J. Richardson, former South Australian inter-State cricketer and Australian Test match player, who spends the English summer as a professional to the Bacup Club, in the Lancashire Cricket League, and the Australian summer as a coach in West Australia, watched his team cqllapse for a paltry 44 in the Lancashire League a few weeks ago. Two bowlers got Bacup’s 10 wickets in 10 overs, each of them getting five batsmen out. Richardson scored only a single. Bacup was beaten for the first time in a season and a-half.
