EARTHQUAKE SHOCK.
EXPERIENCE IN WANGANUI. 'Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Sept. 20. Heralded by the noise of a loud explosion, a sharp earthquake rocked Wanganui at 4i50 o’clock this morning. The direction of the shock was from the coast. A second rumbling noise was heard a few minutes after tiio main shake, but it was not accompanied by oscillation. NO DAMAGE AT WELINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 20.' At 4.52 o’clock, this morning an earthquake was felt. It lasted several seconds, but it was not of sufficient intensity to cause any damage. The seismological records at the Observatory show that the origin was approximately 90 miles north or north-west and that there was a distinct tilt in the ground to the north-east.
