BLIND INSTITUTE BAND CONCERT.
The renowned band of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind arrived in Palmorston North yesterday in charge of Mr Clutha McKenzie, and was met at tho railway station by Rotarians, who motored the members to their various hosts. The band was formed in 1927 and tho following yoar toured Now Zealand as far south as Invercargill, being everywhere accorded a most hospitable reception and playing to record houses. Unfortunately on that tour, Palmerston North had to be missed, and it as fully expected . that on this occasion a bumper house will show its appreciation of tneir performance. The band is considered to be easily the best in Auckland for concerts and dances, having been engaged for the biggest function of tho year—the King’s Birthday ball at Government House. It also has the : distinction of ViceEegal patronage, having boon frequently engaged by Their Excellencies, Sir Charles and Lady Alice Forgusson, and more recently by Their Excellencies, Lord Md Lady Bledisloe.
