ROAD STILL BLOCKED.
FOXTON-LEVIN HIGHWAY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Aug. 16. The Foxton-Sliannon Road is now clear of flood water and all traffic south is using this road. The Foxton-Levin Road is still impassable, however, and will be so for some time. The reason for this is that the flood waters are retained in an area through which the highway passes by flood banks. The water came in higher up the Moutoa at Duck Creek whore the banks were cut last year and flowed down into tho lower portion where there is only one outlet, at tho Main Drain floodgate, and consequently tinless tho banks are cut it will tako a long time for tho water to leave this area. The flood also came over Wood’s bank and flooded an area from Mr Cull’s to Mr Garbott’s' farm. This water is also similarly retained and it will be some time before it leaves the area affected.
