The boxing tourney staged here last night by the Taihape Association was very successful, although the crowd were disappointed in not seeing Cossill (Manawatu heavy-weight champion) and Kart on (Manawatu lightweight champion) in action. The night’s results are (Taihape names mentioned first): Heavy-weight.—A. Thurston,, 12.0, beat R. J. H. Nasen (Dannevirke), 11.3. The fight was stopped by the referee. Weir, 12.6, beat E. Dillon (Taihape), 12.5. Middle-weight.—T. Thurston, 10.8, beat B. Turner (Wanganui), 11.3; R. Gabolinsky, 11.4, lost to Bert O’Keefe (Palmerston North), 10.6; C. Eagle, 10.11, beat P. Corliss (AVanganui), 10.10. The fight was stopped in the last round. Welter-weight.—C. McMahon, 10.0 beat A. Candy (Palmerston North), 10.9. Lightweight. —E. Forward (Wanganui), 9.7, beat M. Candy (Palmerston North), 9.12; L. Gregory, 10.2, beat W. Cleaver (Mataroa), 9.7; J. McMahon, 10.0, drew with E. J. Richards (Gisborne), 9.9; S. Hitchcock, 9.0, lost to G. Jukes (Wanganui), 8.12.
