A huge delegation representing , the manufacturers of British Columbia today urged the Premier, Hon. S. F. Tolmie, P.C., to impress upon the Prime Minister, Hon. R. B. Bennett, that the Australian treaty, particularly regarding salmon, lumber and paper, be not disturbed. The delegation demanded a public announcement by Mr Bennett. It was stated that fears were being expressed in Australia that the treaty’s very existence was imperilled. It was claimed that any interference with the treaty regarding the products specified would be disastrous to British Columbia. The delegation declared that Australian paper purchasers were holding up orders, awaiting Mr Bennett’s tariff decisions. Mr Tolmie promised to confer with Mr Bennett.
