GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone of slight intensity is moving on to Ntew Zealand, but a deep depression has developed near Tasmania. Light to moderate southerly winds, veering gradually to westerlies in and south of Cook Strait, and freshening in the south. Seas smooth to moderate,' but rising later in Foveaux Strait. Light to moderate south to west winds in the Eastern Tasmfin Sea, veering la'ter to northerlies and freshening. Seas smooth to moderate, but rising later in the southern portion. Some scattered showers at first on the East Coast, mainly between East Cape and Cook Strait, but soon becoming fine generally. Later showers developing in Westland and Foveaux Strait. Cold night temperatures. DISTRICT REPORT. - MILDER TEMPERATURES. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for moderate northerly winds, freshening. There is a prospect of fair weather with, later, increasing haze and cloudiness and milder temperatures. The barometer shows little movement, but will be falling after about 16 hours'.
