FIERCE WINDSTORM.
SYDNEY’S EXPERIENCE. WIDESPREAD DAMAGE. Received August 14, 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY. Aug. 14. ; A fierce windstorm, the worst experienced for years, struck Sydney last night and caused widespread damage to property. The suburbs were plunged into darkness, trees were uprooted, houses unroofed and harbour anchorages dislodged. At South Head, the wind reached a velocity of 70 miles per hour. The gale, however, lasted less than an hour.
