HUNTING AT LEVIN.
A BIG FIELD OUT. Glorious weather prevailed yesterday afternoon when the last meet of the season of the Manawatu Hunt was held at Levin. The drag was laid over the same trail, as on a previous occasion, by Master C. Robinson, on Silver King, and Mr E. Locke on Te Tau, the country covered being in splendid order for the sport. There was quite a large number of spectators, who thoroughly enjoyed the fun. Among those out were Messrs N. HOIO- - (in charge), on Roger; J. J. Waller (huntsman), Rob Roy; J. Hilsby, Magill , N. Vickers, Huimai; D. Bradbury, Boneter; W. Tubman, Jock Tartan; lan Taylor, Marita; Dr. S. J. Thompson, Clielita; J. McLennan, Brown Joe; E. Bartholomew, Paduy ; P Takana, Moon Moth; W. B. Stickles Gold Flame; C. Robinson, Silver King; N. Robinson, Spring Vale; J. Locke, Te Horo; E. Locke, Te Tau; R. Locke, Kit; D. Vickers, Samatus;'J. Carter, a bay; D. McDonald, Khalit; M. Tawha, Sandy; G. McDonald, Grandeur; and others. At the conclusion of the hunt, afternoon tea was kindly dispensed by the ladies’ committee. Mr N. Horobin thanked the Manawatu Hunt for coming to Levin and giving them the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure ot hunting, and he hoped the occasion would be the forerunner of more gatherings next season. Ho concluded by calling for three cheers for the Hunt, which were heartily responded to. Mr L. H. Collinson (Master of the Hunt) thanked the property owners and those who had erected the jumps, also the ladies who had so kindly assisted with the refreshments, three cheers also being given for them. At the conclusion of the proceedings, the names of between forty and fifty ot those interested were given in as members of the Hunt next season, and it is anticipated that many more will join up.
