BOXING.
BOUT AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. In a fifteen rounds’ professional boxing contest to-night for a purse of £l5O Dave Palmer, of Victoria (lOst 6Ubs) defeated Tommy Mclnnes, of Scotland (lOst 71bs) on points. The bout was uninteresting on account of the similar tactics adopted by each man throughout. Palmer scored chiefly with lefts and rights to the head, while Mclnnes worked to his opponent’s body. The winner’s advantage in reach was very apparent. Only a small house watched the fight.
