MYSTERIOUS BOMBING. VISIT OF UNKNOWN ’PLANE. Received August 13, 10.5 a.m. VANCOUVER, Aug. 12. Two airmen in a monoplane to-day bombed the coal-mining area around Providence, Kentucky, where strikes had tied up properties since April. Nine bombs loaded with dynamite and charged with iron slugs were dropped, but only two exploded. There were no casualties, although one exploded perilously near a group of workmen. Intense excitement followed the visit of the unknown ’plane, which departed in a northerly direction. The crashing of the bombs "could be heard for miles and threw the town into an uproar.
