AMERICAN ARMY SUPPLIES.
WASHINGTON, July 19. President Hoover has appointed a committee to investigate the amount of foodstuffs now purchased by the army and navy outside America. Beef, beans, corn and dairy products are obtained from New Zealand and Australia for the troops in Hawaii, the Philippines and the Canal Zone. The committee lias been set as the result of complaints by cattlemen and other producers that a surplus of these goods in the United States keep prices at low levels.
