AIR ROUTE TO CANADA.
HUGE SUPPLIES TAKEN. Expeditions which are literally Poles apart were temporarily linked by the docking in London of the Quest —the ship wihcli is to take an expedition to Greenland to study conditions for an air route to Canada —alongside the William Scoresby, which was Sir Hubert Wilkins’s base ship in the Antarctic. The Quest loaded huge supplies, which include two Moth aeroplanes, packed in large cases, two outboard motor-boats, besides ship boats, a dozen dog sledges, wireless sets, rifles, numerous delicate scientific intruments for surveys. There was an enormous variety of food, including asparagus, pressed chicken breasts, mustard and cress, 30001 b of superior pemmican and other nutritive foods, 90001 b of dog pemmican, and many cases of “dog-fat margarine,” of which the “huskies” eat 31b to 41b a day.
