The Ulimaroa arrived at Sydney this morning from Auckland. At a special meeting of the Pahiatua County Council, a letter was received from the Public Works Department advising that another inspection of the Mangatainoka bridge is to be made by the district engineer of the department in conjunction with the consulting engineer, Mr Sladden, and the county overseer, whose reports will bo submitted to the Highways Board for urgent action. The reports will be followed by a deputation from the council for immediate monetary assistance. It was agreed that notices be placed on the borough bridge warning the public that the bridge is unsafe for all traffic. Under will of the late Mr David Todd, grain and seed merchant, of Dunedin, the following legacies have been made, free of death duties: Knox Church Sunday school, £100; the Patients’ and Prisoners Aid Society, £100; for the use and benefit of the James Powed .Rest Home, Presbyterian "Social Service Association, £100; the home missions of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, £IOO. The will further provides that after a life interest in the estate, £250 shall be bequeathed to each of the Patients’ and Prisoners’ Aid Socety, the Home Missions Trust Fund of the Presbyterian Church and Knox Church Sunday School.
