TROWERN DEFEATS HANCOCK. WELLINGTON, May 20. Reg. Trowern, of Auckland, outpointed Wally Hancock, ex-welter-weight champion of Australia, at the Town Hall last evening. In the pink of condition, Trowern went after his man from the opening round, and kept after him until the final gong clashed. There was no doubt about who was the better man. “The best fight ever seen in the Town Hall,” was the verdict of a good judge of the pastime, and this about sums up the opinion of the big crowd. Tbo Australian was handicapped by a damaged left eye, caused by a hard right in the first round. Trowern was given a most cordial reception upon entering the ring, and there was also hearty applause for the Australian, who followed almost immediately. Hancock weighed lOst 41bs, and Trowern lOst 21bs. Ted Morgan who issued a challenge to the winner, was introduced to the gathering.
