UNKNOWN WARRIOR.

HOW BODY WAS CHOSEN. SECRET REVEALED. Received May 17, 1.40 p.m. LONDON, May 17. After eleven years the secret of how the Unknown Warrior was chosen from thousands lying in France has been revealed by Rev. George Kendall, then senior chaplain to the Sixty-third Naval Division. Rev. Kendall states:— “We took one body from an unknown grave in the Ypres salient, and four others from the Marne, Arras and Cambrai fronts. The sixth came from a grave much further south. All six were identical in appearance, and were placed in a hut, the door of which was locked. “Next morning tho general officer commanding entered the hut alone and chose one coffin. The other five were reverently reburied. People havo asked me if we know where the soldier who lies in Westminster comes from; is he absolutely •unknown. My answer is; ‘Yes, absolutely unknown.’ ”
