LINTON
On Friday evening a concert and dance was hold in aid of church funds. Rev. Mr Wiltshire brought out a party from town and they provided an enjoyable evening. The following' was tho programmeSong, Joan Wollerman, “Waiata Poi,” encore, “Homo, Little Maori Homo”; song, Mr Hannay, “Heaps of Lickings,’’ encore, “Teach Mo to Pray” !; 1 stccT guitar, Mr Sunborno; recitation, Mrs Wiltshire, “Tho Peccadillo”; song, Miss Symons, “My Prayer,” encore, “Wake Up I”; song, Mr Wiltshire, “The Whccltappcr’s Song,’ encore, “Chip of the Old Block,”' “Sergeant Major on Parade”; song, Jean Willcrman, “My Treasure”; monologue, Mrs Wiltshire. “Christmas Bells,” encore, “Green Eyo of the Yellow God”; steel guitar, Mr Sunborno; song, Miss Symons, “Because,” encore,. “Request.” An amusing farce by Mr and Mrs Wiltshire ended the enjoyable programme. The accompanists were Mrs Wollerman and Mr Hannay. A dance followed, Mr 0. S. Batchelar being M.C., and Mrs Wollerman and Miss B. Currin provided the music. Mrs Irvine has returned from tho South Island. Mr and Mrs J. Batchelar havo gone to Wellington. Last Friday weok tho harvest festival was held in St. Columba’s Church. The church was prettily decorated and many gifts for the All Saints’ Home were received. The congregation was tho .largest since the war. Mr Batchelar was elected People’s Warden and Mr* Rix Vicar's Warden. The old committee was elected with tho addition of Mr and Mrs Smith, of Ravenswood. On behalf of the parishioners of St. Columba's, Canon Woodward presented Mr and Mrs Wiltshire with a firesido table and vase, wishing them tho very best of success. Mr Wiltshire suitably replied. Mr and Mrs G. Crawford arc away on holiday.
