MANAWATU MOTOR CLUB.

RELIABILITY TRIAL. Considerable success attended the eleventh annual reliability trial for the Jarvis Cup, which was held by the 3lanawatu Motor Club oil Saturday. The weather was not promising, and as a consequence the entries were below tho usual number. The outward route was from Palmerston North to Ashhurst via Linton, Scott’s Road, Kahuterawa Gorge, Fitzherbert and Aokautere, a distance of 40 miles, and the inward journey from Ashliurst wa6 via tho 31anawatu Gorge, Ballance reserve, Ridge Road, Palnatua Track and Aokautere, a distance of 31* miles. Over several portions of the route the roads were rather muddy, particularly the Kahutenawa Gorge and Ridge Road sections. Speeds varying trom 10 to 30 miles jier hour had to be averaged during the run. All tools, spares and speedometers were sealed. The trial was controlled by 12 checks, the majority of which were secret. The following are the results: First: 31. Smith (Palmerston North, 3$ Ariel) lost 87 points, Jarvis Cup and replica. Second: H. Robson (Bunnythorpe, 7 Bi" X) lost 90 points. Gold medal. Third: H. D. Ross (Palmerston North, 3i Ariel and sidecar) lost 93 points. Silver medal. Fourth (doad-heat): J. Brown (<3s 8.5. A.) and B. B. Sherwood (Dannevirke, 3* 8.5. A.), lost 96 points each. Silver medals. . The following also finished:—C. Barltrop (2-1 8.5. A.) lost 107 points, G. H. Webb (3* 8.5. A.) lost 114, J. Stevens (3* Ariel) lost 138, W. Grayson (2J 8.5. A.) all Palmerston North, lost 154. Team prize (three silver medals): H. D. Ross, H. Robson and J. Brown.
