WOMEN’S WORLD.
In spite of popular belief, it is stated that Frenchwomen use less "make-up" than women of any other civilised race. Women between forty and fifty years of age make very good and safe pilots of aeroplanes, althoujfh they may be slower to learn than their younger sisters. The engagement is announced of Mavis, second daughter of Mr and the late Mrs H. Knowles, of Bourke Street, Palmerston North, to George, onlv son of Mrs A. C. Guard, of Monmouth Street, Feilding. Miss F. Stenberg, who has relinquished her connection- witli Watchorn's, Ltd., owing to her approaching marriage, was the recipient of a cryi stal water set from the firm and a china tea set from the members of the [ staff.
