A junior football match between teams from Rongotoa and Oroua Downs was played on tho local ground this afternoon, under very bad weather conditions. Ifio football displayed by tho teams was of a very modiocro standard, although at times a good exhibition of tho codo was given. Rongotoa (black) won tho toss and elected to play towards tho southern goal. I ram the kick-off the black forwards carried play in front of their opponents’ goal, but a force down resulted. METHODIST CHURCH ANNIVERSARY Tho anniversary of the Mothodist Church, Rongotca, was celebrated on Sunday last. Tho morning servico, which was conducted by Rev. Mr Copeland, chairman o( tho Manawatu Hawke’s Bay district, was woll attended, but tho evening service, conducted by Rev. Mr Kendon. was poorly attended. Tho choir rendered an anthem at each service. On Tuesday evoning tho annual tea and rally was held, a largo number of pooplo from Rongotca and surrounding districts being in attendance. Tho programme .submitted was as follows:—Part song, “Good Night Thou Glorious Sun.” choir; song, Miss YY’ilson; quartette, "Good Night, Good Night, Beloved”; address. Mr R. M. Maunder; song, Miss Paccy; anthem, “By Babylon’s YVavo,” choir. Tho financial statement was read by the trust secretary, and a credit balance of £l4 11s 8d was shown. After an interval the concert programme was continued, tho following contributing to tho programme: Song. Mr Laurcnson; duct, “Watchmen, YVhat of the Night,” Messrs YVoodhouso and Tregartho; address, Rev. Mr ICondon; part song, “A Sun set Reverie”; recitation, Mr YVoodhouse; anthem, choir. The evening was brought to a closo by tho rendering of tho Doxology.
