TRUANT FALCON’S LUCK.
PET NEARLY SHOT. BIRD THAT ANSWERS MASTER’S CALL. Mr Wallace King, of Goldrill House, Patterdale, AVestmorland, England, an enthusiastic naturalist, nearly shot Percy, his tame peregrine falcon, the other day. Percy is fud grown and so tame that for some time he has had his freedom for a while every day. After an exercise flight he would return at Mr King’s call, But on a recent day Percy, apparently, was unable to resist the call of the wild, and there was no answer when Mr King called him home and his cage remained empty all night. AA'hile Mr King was wild duck shooting on the shores of Ullswater he levelled Iris gun at a bird and was about to fire when in an intuitive flash he realised that he was firing at his truant falcon. Lowering his gun he called to Percv, who swooped obediently to his master’s feet, and allowed himself to be taken home.
