FURTHER AWARDS. THE PIANO SCHOLARSHIP. With the announcement of further awrnrds last evening, the ninth annual festival of the Alanawatu Competitions Society reached its concluding stages, and the remainder of the adjudications were to be finalised this afternoon. Last evening’s numbers produced some talented performers, and all the contestants acquitted themselves very creditably indeed. The standard of the dancing was praised by the judge, who stated that the town possessed some exceptionally good teachers. She imparted some advice to the performers concerning interpretation and pose, and described the dressing of the ballets as very effective, though their work was a little ambitious.

Principal interest attached to the announcement of the winner of the piano scholarship, of a value of £l2 12s, given by the Alanawatu Society of Professional Teachers of Alusic. This was won by Aliss E. Hansen, of Palmerston North, with 458 points. Other competitors were Aliss Al. L. AlacFarlane (Nelson), Aliss Al. Ingley (Palmerston North), Aliss AI.
