Mr and Mrs V. Williamson and daughter left Palmerston North for Wellington this morning. Tiled will in future reside in the Capital City. Mrs J. Louisson, of Wood Street, Palmerston North, is on holiday at Rotorua. Miss E. Paton, of Wanganui, is spending a holiday in Palmerston North. Mrs Rist, who lias been staying in the north, is the guest of Mrs J. C. Young, of Palmerston North. She will subsequently go to New Plymouth and Wellington. Miss Myrtle Pabling, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. A. Fabling, of 24 Heretaunga Street, Palmerston North, who has been training at St. Helen f s Hospital, Wellington, returned to Palmerston North on Tuesday, accompanied by her sister, Miss Gladys Fabling. _ Nurse Fabling passed her examination with honours. Among 63 women who were awarded honours in Holland, including professional women, there are 17 maidservants who have been 40 years in service. This fact seems to indicate that domestic service has not quite ceased to attract the women of that country. Some of the medals awarded are bronze, while others are of silver. The death of Mrs Annie McLaughlin. an old resident of the Papa toe toe and Mangero districts, occurred at her home, Mangere, this week, in her 93rd year. Born in Dublin, she came to New Zealand over 70 years ago, and shortly after her arrival she married i the late Mr J. McLaughlin. After their .marriage Mr and Mrs McLaughlin took up farming at Papatoetoe, where they resided for 33 years. They then removed to Mangere, where Mrs McLaughlin had resided since.
