THEFT CHARGES.
Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 15. George Crompton Mansfield was sentenced to three months’ hard labour for the theft of a purse containing £ll from Mrs Miller, on a service bus between Te Kuiti and Mokau. REMAND GRANTED. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 15. A young man named John Charles Tooman was arrested in Dunedin yesterday on a charge of having stolen a postal packet the property of MeGavin and Company whilst employed as a postal officer. He appeared before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., in the afternoon and -was remanded :to appear on May 21, bail being fixed at self £IOO and one surety of £IOO or two of £SO.
