THE COMPETITIONS.
THIS MORNING’S RESULTS. The Manawatu Competitions Society’s ninth annual festival was continued at the Ojrera House and Municipal Hall this morning, the perfarmances again being of a very high standard and meeting with the approval of all -who witnessed them. Detailed results of this morning’s programme are as follow: — ELOCUTIONARY. CHARACTER RECITAL (under 16.) Recalls. —Patricia Kerr, Nathalie Pollock (Wellington), Vivien Jones (Hawera). Peggy Newlands (Palmerston North) and Joyce Goodwin (Hawera) were highlv commended. RECITATION, boys under 12. (“A Wet Sheet and a Flowing Sea.”) Gordon Morris (Palmerston North) 80 1 Russel Jackson (Buhnytliorpe) and Pat Scott (Palmerston North) with 79 marks each were very highly commended. The three competitors mentioned were the only entrants. • VOCAL. SACRED SOLO (Ladies). Recalls. —Mrs F. McLachlan (Palmerston North), Miss M. Hamerton (PatSa), CHARACTER STORY DANCE (12 and over). Recalls. —Ora Jones (Wanganui), Stella Vernon (Wanganui).
