COMMERCIAL AVIATION.

FUTURE IN NEW ZEALAND. FIRST ’PLANE IN USE. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, May 15. The first commercial aeroplane in use in the Dominion, a moth machine, arrived from Wellington in four hours 45 minutes’ flying time. Captain 51. C. McGregor was at the controls, and Mr G. tiara, company director, a passenger. The airmen left Wellington at TO a.m., arriving at Hawera at 12.15 o’clock. They left again at 2 p.m. and arrived at Mangere at 4.30 o’clock. The machine gave complete satisfaction throughout the flight. “The idea of using the machine is really an experiment,” Air Sara said. “We believe definitely that we can not only save time, but also can obtain greater efficiency and give better service by using an aeroplane. Somebody has to do the pioneer work in this direction, and I believe that we will do it successfully. * We are at least ten years behind in flying in New Zealand, and I hope that we will soon progress and take our place in flying as we have done in almost everything else.”
