MANAWATU HUNT
GOOD SPORT AT AOKAUTERE. Glorious weather brought out quite a large field of followers- at Aokautere yesterday afternoon, when Huntsman Waller fielded a great pack of hounds to lead hunting folk over splendid country for the sport. Messrs L. Collins, on Glad Eye, and J. Penney, on Calculation, laid drags for three good runs on a trail that compelled followers to adopt hunting pace. Taken altogether, the jumping was first-rate, thugh several “green” mounts gave their riders a good deal of trouble, and they only got around with much appreciated assistance from the Deputy Master, Mr D. B. McEwen. There were two or three spills just to liven up matters, but no one was hurt. Among those out were Messrs D. B. McEwen (Deputy Master) on Snowflake; J. J. Waller (huntsman), Rob Roy; F. Edmonds (hon. whip), Moonlight; Mrs Curie, Robin Adair; Mrs Meade, Prudence; Miss R. Bailey, Freedom; Miss L. Meade, Tony; Miss P. Meade, Valencia; Miss Webb, Brown Johnny; Miss Benton, Roany; Miss P. Davison, Abe ; Messrs D. Scott, Sambur; W. W. Andrews, Seaboy; L. Collins, Glad Eye; J. Penney, Calculation; S. Bailey, Cannamant; R. Waller, Rangi Sarto ; J. Doreen, Mandate ; P. Dawson, Askari; R. Clark, Rangipai; Stanley Farlane, Scotty ; R. Shipton, Barney Google; B. Turner, Jolly Cove. At the conclusion of the hunt, followers and spectators adjourned to the Public Hall and partook of afternoon tea, which was kindly served by Mesdames R. R. Scott and W.
