CONDITIONS IN N.S.W. NEW INDUSTRIAL LEGISLATION. PREMIER’S STATEMENT. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received May 14, 9.55 -a.m. SYDNEY, May 14. In moving the second reading of the Industrial Arbitration Amendment Bill, the State Premier, ’Mr T. R. Bavin, stated that a dissolution on this issue would involve a delay of several months. In the face of the critical economic and industrial conditions which prevailed the Government did not feel justified in taking a course which would involve postponing any effective reliei for that period. The State was faced with industrial conditions that were unprecedented in its history. Mr Bavin stated that the forty-four-hour week was an unmitigated disaster to the people it was intended to benefit. The vote on the second reading of the Forty-four-Hours Bill will be taken to-night. The Ministry is confident of victory.
