Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 12. At the Supreme Court to-day prisoners were sentenced by Mr Justice Smith:—Richard Stanley Sinclaire, for indecent assault, was admitted to three years’ probation. Robert Morton, for robbery with violence, was sentenced to three years’ hard labour, and James Daley, for assault with intent to rob, to 18 months’ hard labour. Frank Markovini, aged 22, a bricklayer, for uttering a forged cheque and obtaining goods by false pretences, was admitted to three years’ probation. Edward Harold Alexander, for attempted arson, was sentenced to one years’ reformative detention. Rangi Sullawan, for receiving and theft, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. William Thomas, for breaking and entering and theft, was sentenced to three years’ hard labour. Rebecca Stewart, aged 22, for breaking and entering and theft at Dargaville, was given three years’ probation. John Te Wake, aged 18, for breaking and entering and theft, and setting fire to a dwelling at Dargaville, was ordered two years’ Borstal treatment. Peter Stewart, aged 45, for breaking and entering, theft, and setting fire to a dwelling, theft of sheep, receiving goods, and other charges, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment. James Toke, a gnmdigger, aged 20, for breaking and entering and theft (two charges), arson and sheep stealing, was ordered two years’ detention in a Borstal institute. Per Press Association. Thomas George McCreath was charged with breaking and entering a shop at Greenhills and stealing goods to the value of £5, while his brother, Edward Lawrence McCreath, was charged with receiving the goods knowing them to have been stolen. Both accused pleaded guilty and were remanded for sentence. William Warnock, who was charged with having set fire to a cottage at Winton, was acquitted.
