UNDER TRAIN WHEELS.
WOMAN’S TRYING ORDEAL. An unknown woman had a narrow escape at tire Palmerston North railway station on Saturday afternoon. There was an unusual rush by passengers to board • Plymouth express, aul in the bustle to catch the' train a lady passenger missed her footing as she was climbing on to the carriage. She tell between the edge of the platform and the already moving wheels, and it, seemed certain Hi at she would bo cut to piece. Lucky in not being thrown under the train, stie" was doubly fortunate when two young men, with great presence ot mind, rushed forward and, with .a strenuous effort, managed to drag her from her penlous position. Their timely action saved her life, as just as she was pulled out of her danger the projecting end of a carriage swept by. Hid she been struck she would probablv have been hurled under the train. Apparently she was none the worse for her trying ordeal when extricated, and, except for severe shock, suffered no harm of any consequence.
